since my phone upgraded to lollipop the other day my phone speakers actual call volume is so quiet I can't hear anybody, making my phone uaeless to receive calls, yes the side volume is on full . Yet if I play an Mp3 its as loud ad it use to be via kitkat, notifications are ok too as well as the ringtone. Its just the actual call volume which isnow useless unless you're in a month sound proof room.

Anyone know how to fix or if I can roll back to kitkat.

I have tried the phone in Safe Mode but still nothing the call volume is down. I opeand my wife's gift a sony z3 wich i got hear a the same time i got mine but she still loves hear S4. The call volume in kitkat is louder. Anything you want to know about the phone ? Please help i don't want to root the phone.

I would just like to clarify that my initial problem with a low ear piece volume was infact a fault with the speaker. The speaker was replaced under warranty and returned fully functioning.

To be clear when i run diagnostics the ear speaker is loud but call volume is low.

Mine did that however when I put my thumb over the bottom speaker during diagnostics for the ear speaker it appeared to be using the bottom speaker to play sound.

Mine works on diagnostic it is not the bottom speaker that plays the sound, i have used this *#*#7378423#*#* to test the speaker and it works, but when i call someone using the phone the volume is down. The speaker in the test it is loud.

My in call volume is also very low even when turned up to max. The phone is next to impossible to use outdoors.

The 2nd lollipop update didn't fix this issue.

Apparently it's a feature ... feature! Piece of s firmware update.

I'm going back to Kitkat whatever it takes.

Sorry to hear that you have issues with the volume after the update.

Would it be possible for those of you who have a lower in call volume after the update to send me a copy of the file "mixer_paths.xml" in your phone and i will forward this for investigation.

To access this file you can use an app like Total Commander. Select File system root -> etc and then tap and hold "mixer_paths.xml" in the list, select Send to and then upload it to for example Google Drive. Please send me a private message here on the forum with a link to this file.

Today I got the last update. After that when I call any one from my phone i hear him well but he doesn't hear me. But when loud 🔊 speaker is on he can hear me well.and when any one call me from his phone all are OK I can hear him well and hear me well at any how loud 🔊 speaker or not
So what is the solution? It must be software setting as any one can hear me well when calling me
