When I put phone on speaker so I can hear the caller without having to hold phone to my ear, I can put caller on speaker, but my microphone does not work in this mode (in others such as playing music etc, it works fine) meaning the caller cannot hear me, although I can hear them perfectly well.

Welcome to the community,

It may also be a good idea to test the Microphone in the Diagnostics.

Menu > Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Tests > Microphone.

Let us know the result

one more...when I charge my phone...the connection notification sound is so low...can't hear it anymore

If you get failures within the Diagnostics, it can be hardware related, honestly I would first suggest backing up your device using Xperia Companion and then attempt a software repair. If this does not work then contacting Customer Care is your best option.

Are you aware on how to perform a back and a software repair?

this is after I update my phone to marshmallow..I think its not a hardware problem..

i also have this problem. i've tried almost everything (tried in safe mode, changed the Sim card, changed the network connections, by Sony Companion reinstal the OS, nothing works), in programs such as Skype, Viber, Whatsapp it works perfectly and even when i talk by loudspeaker on!!! i think its bag in 6.0.1!
