New UI "Phone" is really 5 steps back

Hi,

since a few weeks a major update of the UI really annoys me more and more.

It is the "Phone" UI, cause that is what you do, with a phone, phoning!

The MAJOR disadvantages for me are:

1. I must touch exactly on the phone symbol to start a call. This is intuitively not possible, when not staring at the phone!

2. All other tocuhes will result in opening a dialog, which is completely useless, and offers me details, nobody interests (besides changing the number manually)

3. Why can't I directly navigate from a phone number to the related contact information??

To complete: I can understand, that designers want to design! But where have been all the Usability Engineers, sleeping all day??? There is absolutely no reason to change the behaviour. And if you change something, you should add at least a button to choose between behavioural schemes.

Sometimes I have the feeling the engineers at Apple, Sony, Microsoft, Google just try to train us, so that we probably will get Alzheimer's disease later!

Get rid of this new UI asap or please tell me how to get back my functionality I was used to.

Thanks in advance.

Strange, I find the new Phone UI more functional for the same reasons you mentioned:

1- Touch the phone icon to dial

2- Touch the number/name for more info

3- Touch the avatar/picture icon for contact details

You always have the option to download custom dialers, the Play store is full of them, and that's the beauty of Android: customization.
