Does Xperia M support Bluetooth BLE ?

Hi,

Now updgraded my Xepria M to android 4.3 but it seems that BLE is still not supported...

Is the Xperia M hardware capable of that? Any plan for having BLE working on Xperia M?

Thanks

Dear Sony Support,

We are using Sony Xperia M commercially and really need the firmware upgrade.

Could you please give a statement on whether this will happen and when?

Thanks.

Hello Sony. I bought the Xperia M because it was said that after 4.3 upgrade it will be BLE compatible. Now I have the 4.3 OS but no BLE. Could you tell if it will be available ? We need to know if we have to wait some days, some weeks, months or change device. Don't forget we are your customers...

Thanks in advance for your reply.

@all: in the first post of this thread, there is a link "2 people had this problem", perhaps that if more from us click on this link to increase this counter then somebody from Sony will start to think that there a real problem !

Same here, I am using this phone (I have 25 of them actually...) commercially and BLE is a new requirement for my business. Not having an answer whether this issue will be fixed or not is the worst we can expect from Sony... and this is just what we get...

We need to know if can keep this phone or just move our to other brands (obvisouly I will not consider to buy more Sony phones if this things isn't replied / solved properly).

I'm sorry that the investigation of this has taken some time. I have received the following information regarding this issue:

The Xperia M and M dual are Bluetooth 4.0 (incl. BLE) compliant.  However, there could be interoperability incident for the BLE-compliant devices which rely on specific Android applications that examine the system software property for BLE support. This issue of interoperability will not get a fix, and will be addressed in the future products.

Thanks for the answer that we have been waiting for too long.

That's a bad news... because we know the issue can be fixed via software release (like with CyanogenMod) - just Sony isn't willing to put any ressources on this mid-range phone.

At least now I can take action and move to other brands...

Ok Sony, I'm very happy to own a Bluetooth 4 compliant device but not usable! So if I want to use this compliant fonctionnality I will have to try to hack this phone in order to install CyanogenMod. But if I chose a reputable brand like Sony it's because I don't want to do this kind of manipulations. I don't want a compliant phone : I want a usable phone !

This Xperia M was my fourth Sony phone. But I'm not sure there will be a fifth. Sorry Sony!

I've just talked with a Fitbit suport member and they cannot do anything if you cannot fix this problem.

It's not funny at all Sony. Just sold my Xperia L only because it has no BTLE support due the lack of 4.3 support and now you come and give us such an unacceptable answer: Xperia M will not receive any fix for this issue. Such a shame.

L.E.I've just sent back the Xperia M and received a refund. I'll never purchase a Sony product again.
