Camera quality

Hi

I got my Z3 a few weeks ago but unfortunately I am very disapointed with the camera quality. Almost every photo I take, both wiht auto and manual mode is very blurry. If I take a photo at the same time with my Nexus 5 that picture has a much higher image quality than the picture taken with the Z3.

I have uploaded an example picture here which I think is way to blurry, I held the phone steady and the lighting was good.

Am I using the camera wrong or is there something wrong with my phone? Is anyone else experiencing the same problems?

The lens is clean when I took the photos.

I took some photos today with both the Z3 and my Z3 Compact. I used Auto mode on both phones and pushed the camera button down halfway first to focus. One thing I noticed was that the Z3 was much faster to focus than my Z3 compact,

I think there is a clear difference in image quality between the Z3 and Z3 Compact. I will send my phone for service when I get home from vacation.

Hi P3anuts

sorry it's taken so long to reply.

yep there's noticeable blur on your z3 compact.

I'd say the z3 output seems about right.

Having said all this, I've been cat-sitting and naturally have been taking photos. I've found with OpenCamera that there's a slight focusing issue sometimes. My cats are very fluffy and sometimes you can just see the fur's not quite in focus (just a touch). Since some images seem ok, I can only presume it's just imperfect focusing. I've noticed that there seems to be more issues with focusing when using the flash than not.

EDIT: I still think there's a problem with shutter lag though. Admittedly, cats rarely keep still when one needs them to Slightly_smiling_Face

However, it's probably sensible to send the phone back and get it checked, given it's so new.

Bad focusing's just **bleep** annoying.

I suspect even if the phone was ok, you'd still have issues with blur, as we've discussed already, as the shutter seems to take far too long to operate grrrr.

Anyway, I wish you well and hope there's an explanation for the blurring on your phone.

Cheers,

Gaz

I have now gotten my phone back from service and it works very well. They replaced the camera and did a software upgrade.

I took this photo in quite poor lighting conditions.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Thanks!

The first photos, of the house and trees was taken during my vacation on Öland, Sweden. The last picture was taken when I got home, at a lake close to Falun in Sweden.

Z3 camera just likes to overprocess alot of the images then we you copy the pics to pc they look awefull and pixelated... Then there are some that look good. No point contacting Sony, if there is something that isn't on there manual they tell you phone broken please send away for repair lol. Turn off image enhancement. And at night time use manual mode. Best advice I can give.

@Tidy

You are a bit confused, the reason the pictures don't look the same on a computer, it's simple, your computer doesn't have Xreality engine.

Nope even without mods th pic always looks good on phone then it looks like rubbish on pc lol o did not get this poor quality on my m7 HTC... This is meant to be a far superior phone yet has so many issues. People suggesting use screen shot etc. Sony support is poor, Sony camera is poor, there lollipop update is shockingly bad. I really am tempted to just give up on Sony. I thought this phone would have been a big upgrade from my z1 compact. Sadly not the case. Sorry to bore you with my life story but this has been a journey to
