safely remove hardware desktop icon

Hi all again ok got my modem instaled for broadband works great problem is i now have the icon to safely remove hardware desktop icon up all the time and cant get rid of it it just lets me remove it ?????
any help :slight_smile:

As far as I know the only way is to right-click the notification area, and selecting Properties. Under the Notification area heading, click Customize. Find the Safely Remove Hardware icon and select Always hide in the Behavior column next to it (press OK and Apply to back out).

thanks for that Snipes i have now done that and it has gone the strange thing is it says device working properly ect ect but still get the remove hardware icon (when not hidden now )
i would have thought it shouldint show that if all was ok and i have done the search for hardware ect and all is ok lol

The only reson you have that is because you have a plug and play device, meaning you can unplug the modem anytime by safely removing it first.

As Snipes says it should hide it.

thank you two i thought i had set something wrong :slight_frown: but i havent :smileygrin: thanks Kee_lo for that info i have hidden it now as it looks messy :slight_smile: and i dont plan on taking the modem of but i will remember just incase i do :devil:
again thanks this site just gets better and better its a shame sony cant when you phone them for help it dissapoints me so much that the buyers know more than the sellers

it is very silly Kee_lo as it will no doubt cost them sales as things get more complicated
it is now that will make them a better company not later when people loss faith in them
no point upseting the people that buy there gear

This is true, sometimes i need help myself on here as they dont know what or how to solve my problem. But hey, atleast we all have the forum:smileywink: to fall back on:smileyhappy:

True, but it is worrying to think "well what if I had a problem Sony had no idea of and they screw me around for months on end", unsettling...
