IE8 has been operating perfectly well until last week when I discovered that I could not view any video downloads.
I followed the links and attempted to download the latest version of Flash Player but when I click to allow the ActiveX add on the screen freezes until IE8 puts up a window with the following message......
"Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer
A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage.
What you can do:
Go to your home page
Try to return to adobe.com
More information"
........It doesn't matter which link I follow or if I go to Adobe.com direct, the result is the same!
I have tried to "reset" through "internet options" but no joy.
I have downloaded the "Opera" browser and this allows the Flash Player without any problems at all??
However as good as "Opera" is, and it's very fast, I prefer to use IE8.
Can anyone tell me why this should suddenly happen for what seems no good reason, and how I can remedy the problem please?
Cheers....

Download & use the flash uninstaller from here:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Reboot to clear out any left over ocx files.
Reinstall the latest Flash Player from here:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/
If all else fails try installing it from another download site (not Adobe)

Or better still use Firefox 3.5.3
