odd battery usage.

I Have a question to ask SE again about the X10.

Why does the battery in my x10 last for ages when i switch to airplane mode.

And when i say ages i mean longer than a month on standby.

Versus the maximum 2 day standby when airplane mode is off?

Quality of signal is the biggest battery drain of any (I'd venture to say) cellular device by far.

The lower the signal, the harder the phone (and battery) works.

Airplane mode turns off ALL radio signals in your device, making it MUCH more likely to keep its charge. This is different then removing the SIM.

I'm not at all surprised by your claim. I live in the south coast of my country, and travel about 4 hours (by car) to get to the north, driving through the center of the country is a dead zone for phones. I noticed a HUGE drain in battery the first time I did the trip, now I know better to turn on airplane mode.

that's a great question, I want to read an official answer

but I think it has to do with the phone attempting to remain connected to the 3G signal or looking for a strong signal

As usual.. i'm guessing here but as usual my guesses are mostly on par.

The baseband radio voltage&/current parameters are incorrect?

you should try to leave your phone on w/o a SIM card and see how long the battery last

i tested that it still has a severe effect on battery life.. 2days max.

odd, my x10 w/o a SIM card last a bit more than a week on standby

I could be have made a mistake when testing without a sim.

Also:

2G on = a good few days.

3G ON = 3 hours to 1.5 days.

I can safely inform SE that the overheating problem is due to extrenal signal fluctuations.

The radio causes the device to get extremely hot.

I was also shocked that SE opted to stick to the same kernel in the 2.3 update.

Well.. Here's hoping someone high up in SE reads this and understands.

I do this not becuase i hate.. but becuase i love.

3hrs to 1.5days on 3G that's bad (anything close/around to 3hrs)

I hope an SE moderator address this

Ok now what do i do if that drain is only present in my x10 but none of my other devices..

Because this issue is mostly at home... when people need to contact me.

"Tech Question"

Would using a larger battery help?

Like for example a 3rd party 3000mA battery?

Or will the phone limit the incomming charging current?

Can i attach a external antenna for better signal?

Is there any antenna model available?
