Sony has finally responded to my complaints. Their attitude is none too dissimilar to "So what, get over it". Would you want to spend your hard earned money buying products from a company that couldn't care less about their customers? Not me, that's for sure.

I am devasted to have lost the notes I had on the notes app. I am disappointed of such disregard to my personal data.

I'm very disappointed and heartbroken. How can they do this to us??? We paid our money for a device and service. It's like depositing money into a bank and had it stolen away.....

Never, ever buy another Sony product again. They only want your money. They don't care about service.

Sony stop deleting my comments, you DID block my email address and it is because you cannot win an argument with me. I will report you to the press, I will also report the fact that you are deleting comments that mention the press. There are plenty of other outlets where I can expose you for what you are. I have been taking screenshots of my comments so that I can prove that you are deleting comments without due cause. This is the UK and we have the right to freedom of speech.

Hi Rik

When I spoke to the Sony help line handler I asked if the data was somewhere on the device (phone) and if rooting the device would give access to our data, he replied no, and advised users are supposed to back-up data prior to updating an operating system.

I advised him this information or warning was not presented to users prior to updating but as you advise you did back up your data. We must remember the help line handler is just that 'a handler' and not a sys op (systems operator) or programmer.

I am hopeful when I speak to Sony's chief exec and inform the exec office of what has happened maybe just maybe a senior programmer may be instructed to see if our data can be recovered. That is why I am hoping a Sony whistleblower may get in touch with me.

The more informed I am when I speak to Sony's chief exec the better

Regards

Hi Dave, Sony has suggested that people should install Google Keep as an alternative to Sony Notes. However this won't recover lost data. I have done a bit of programming in the past and I am quite confident that if Sony were to collaborate with Google then it is possible that a conversion app can be launched that will convert Notes data to be compatible with Google Keep. It is possible but it seems that Sony doesn't want to bother, they just want to pretend that the problem isn't happening.

I think we have to face the facts that Sony has messed up and we wont be getting our data back.

The only response we have is to contact the media ( I havent seen any media coverage of this..is there any)

AND Importantly hit them where it hurts by NOT buying their products wherever possible.

Personally they are now bycotted by me and I wont purchase a Sony product where I can avoid it.

But in the end its small beans to a company that obviusly doenst care about its customers.

In many cases a smiple and sincere apology would probablly surfice, or at least an effort to formally announce what can ( or as I believe cannot)  be done.

I guess a not so happy new year to all those of us who have lost data for good.

2015 - the year Sony man up and admit responsability? - I doubt it

I have same issue. I updated 3 weeks ago, and was waiting for a solution to appear.
One of the most incredible things is that they keep on pushing to update after notithing these problem.
It's completely unbelievable that any Company acts this way.
If someone has not yet updated, please make sure you migrate all your data before updating it.
For Sony people, please, advice about that to users that had not updated yet.

Still have the app on my phone though it is disabled as I use google keep as it's so much nicer to use n not likely to just disappear. I believe there is the notes apk somewhere on XDA forums I could be wrong
