Sony just deleted my comment about going to the press. Think I've got 'em worried.

Hi RikTrik,

I just found a list with more than 100 tech reporters' emails, and I emailed all of them with the following;

    Hi all Journalists,

Upon the Android 4.4.4 arrival on the Xperia Mobiles, many user worldwide were pissed off by the removal of the Stock Notes App, that came with the device, with all their personal/work notes!

Sony support wouldn't make any official statement nor provide a solution to recover the notes, and leaves it to the users on the forum to find their way out!

I've written to Sony again and told them that we won't be ignored. Let's see what happens.

I'm going to buy a samsung phone I swear!!!!!!!!!!

Sony, I would used more curse words than normal words normally, but I don't because you will just delete

Just know I am not buying any of your phones again in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No good deleting the comments Sony as we will just repost them! Why don't you spend the time on finding out how to retrieve everyone's lost data? I work in I.T and I would certainly have lost my job over something like this.

Sony has once again been deleting my comments. When are they going to realise that whenever they try to censor their angry customers it only makes themselves look unprofessional and nasty. If Sony was to spend time on resolving the problems instead of trying to silence their customers then this whole issue would have been sorted by now. Instead they're just making us angrier.

Just to advise all users who have lost the Notes app.

After receiving a number of complaints from people in the Darlington Co Durham UK parliamentary constituency I contacted Sony Xperia help-line via telephone and spoke to their representative, who confirmed that the Notes app and all associated data on a users device has gone permanently, he advised there is no way the data can be recovered.

I advised him I will be writing to the chief executive of Sony UK over this issue, and advised him to be truthful with me, which he advised me he was doing so.

The action I now intend to pursue is a very strong complaint to Sony on behalf of the customers who have contacted me and who have suffered in some cases catastrophic data loss. If you would like me to include your comments and complaints to Sony's chief executive please let me know and I will if the language is kept appropriate. Email

If any Sony employee is reading this message and knows of a way the users data could be recovered please advise and I will inform Sony executives of such information and see if recovery can be instigated.

Mr. Hodgson, as many people have stated most of us had the common sense to back-up our data but can't restore our back-ups due to compatibility issues. This means that the data is there, so if Sony claims that the problem cannot be remedied then I simply do not believe that they're being truthful. There is a strange irony in the fact that we have all lost data as a result of an Android update whose main focus was enhancing security. Regards, Rik

Wow! So my notes are gone!?! I noticed it was missing after the update and just thought it'd be an easy fix to get the back. Sat down to do it now and ended up here. Unbelievable. It seems to me that Sony are a bit of a joke... i mean, a company that deals in technology deleting millions of its users' personal data without permission or warning. Class action suit, anyone?

I've always been a Apple user and was trying out a Sony phone this time around but it'll be back to Apple soon.
