I am not sure if this is something people really pay attention to, I will check if I can get more info on this.

They may not pay attention to it, but something is happening, and it might be some spam/dodgy tracking app???

Surely Sony should be able to advise? Since it is in the status icons area, they must know???

Erm well status icons are to the right, app icons to the left.

This dot isn't some tracking paranoia tool, it's a simple notification that is something to do with Google. It's been around for a loooong time on many many devices.
