Unable to update firmware to 10.1.A.1.434 - C6602 India

Hi Tech team/fellow members,

I bought an Xperia Z (C6602) last month in Chennai, India. I checked for any available update in the phone's update center and received an information to update to 10.1.A.1.434 which was released on 25 march 2013 for the screen of death issue (i think!!!). The notification area also showed the same  (New system update available). I was instructed to have a PC to install this update since this cannot be done thro' OTA (or am I missing any piece of info???).

I installed the latest PC Companion in my laptop (runs in Vista Home Premium). Even the PC Companion mentioned that an update for my phone is available. I started the update and waited for upto an hour and 15 mins but still no progress. The screen was showing as downloading something but the PC Companion was not responding. I had to end the task thro' task manager.

Is the update information correct for my model C6602 - meaning is this updated released for the models in India? If yes, why am I not able to update the firmware thro' PC Companion? Is there a OTA available for Indian market? Anybody who know any related information kindly let me know. If any other way to update the firmware also let me know.

BTW, when could the Indian models get an official update to 4.2?

Regards,

Prakash.J

It took me around 4 hours to download the update and another half an hour to apply it (estimated time showed as 6 hours). It could probably depend on your Internet speed (I have a known issue with my Internet speed and my current ISP).

Retry again and let it go on.

mine updated in 30 mins - if you have a slow connection  then - you have a slow connection but be carefull - once the files have downloaded you will get a warning - do not turn off or stop the update - this could seriously damage your phone

It is heavily dependant on your internet speed. However if the program became unresponsive this was likely just a one off glitch, please simply try running the update again.
