I got round this problem by downloading a new file manager app - ES file explorer pro. Managed to copy and move files with this.

Have you tried to use the detect USB device button from quick settings?

It's already detected and working fine, but can't find a way to copy files or photo from internal or SD memory to an external connected storage

If you go under settings - storage, it should show up.

Thank for replying..
HAVE YOU TRIED IT?!
solutions and suggestions you are giving are about Detecting and running OTG USB, I have no problem with that at all..
I'm talking about completely different thing
COPY FILES FROM DEVICE to USB storage, previously it was normal with any file manager app, now with MM there's no such option..

Prior to upgrading to Marshmallow on Friday i was able to insert my sandisk dual USB flash disk directly into my phone, run the detect usb option and then transfer files from / to it using file commander.  Since the update applied i can now detect the drive but no file manager programs can see it, this means i can move no files onto the USB device. The phone allow me to look at the files on the USB device and i can delete from it but not copy to / from.  Has anybody else had this issue ?

Glad it's not just me !

I used the feature so much and am gutted i'm now going to have to copy to my PC and then to my USB. It was so convenient before.
