My back and home button not working in sony z5 compact
hey.
just woke up after charging to phon all night and the back and home button not working everthing was fine before, what can i do?

Sorry to hear that. Can you try to force the phone to shut down and then turn it on again? To force a shut down, press and hold the volume up button and then power button at the same time until the phone vibrates (should take about 10 seconds). When the phone is turned off, restart it.
Are you now able to use the home- and backbuttons?

I'll jump into this thread since I got the same issue. I tried doing what you asked without success. What should I do now?
Maybe worth to mention that I got this same issue 1-2 weeks ago, but it resolved itself that time. I tried restarting the phone that time aswell without success. The glitch then lasted for about 30-60 mins.
It's a shame that this is happening. Overall I'm happy about the phone and its functions, and I've recommended it to many friends and family members, but this might be a dealbreaker to get another brand.

This has also happened to my xperia z5 compact on 9/10/2016
Tried a factory rest
Tried hard reset
Tried basic reset
Done the touchscreen test and the very bottom of the screen dosnt register,
HOW DO WE FIX THIS issue? Its a clear issue thats been happening since last year (2015) bit of a joke dont you think sony?
I love the xperia devices but to wake up after charging you phone to find it not working and then find out this issue has been around for over a year is a joke. SORT IT out

I suddenly have similar problem on z5 dual. My Home and recent apps buttons doesn't work. Tried force restart as suggested but no help there. Request for a suggestion.

I'm sorry if I missed that part.
What you can try to rule out this being related to software or not is performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.
Even though there isn't any visible damage it's not impossible it's related to hardware, especially if you cannot clear the bottom part of the display in Diagnostics. Contact your Local support for information on how your device can be sent to an authorized service centre.
