I have no idea why Sony is saying this issue is solved. As I read through the endless pages of replies, none of the answers solved the problem.
Here is what I did.
1) I pressed down on each of the 4 corners of the screen simultaneously, not too hard, but firmly. I thought the screen may have been loose. To do this, make sure you use your pinky and thumb for the right hand.
2) Make a call using your pointer finger while keeping all 4 corners pressed down. If it goes black, make sure you keep your fingers pressed on the volume up and power button to conduct a hard restart on the phone.
While pressing down on all four corners, I actually heard a physical click, but not a crack. It just sounded like the screen came loose, causing the issue. It worked. No more black screen when making a call.
If it reverts, I'll give an update. However, I am still going to clean the phone.
Sick now my Z3 compact has done exactly what my z1 compact did, the camera went black and failed again. Sony need to address this hindrance, ffs
pressing the 4 corners of the phone firmly actually worked for me...for the time being
i did also upgrade my SD card because i thought maybe space was the issue
Hi, how did it go with this repair? Is your camera working? I want to do it too but thought I am gonna ask how is your phone doing afterwards.
regards
Hi!
I have the same problem (sony xperia z3 compact)! For everyone who hasn't fixed it yet...
I don't have the perfect solution but:
When I put my settings back to fabric settings (sorry don't know how to say that in English) it will work again. Unfortuanately it only worked for 2 months for me. Another thing I tried was following:
Press your volume button and the on/off button at the same time. It's also a reset thing. It will work again (for a while...).
I have the same problem as others. Really like my Sony, but there're too many mistakes in the phone. Please Sony, fix this! I really want to buy another Sony, but i don't want all these problems!!
xperia x
Finally solved: just update the software (about 514 mb)
I'm having the same problem. Camera just stopped working and stays black. Both cameras just stopped working. If I try diagnostics it says camera non responsive. Sony please come with a salution. Ive had sony mobiles for a long time now but if it isnt fixed my next phone wont be a sony
Thanks for the advice,
this method worked for me too!!!
My z3 compact is almost two years old, first problem ever happened a couple days ago, black screen, no camera.
