Hi, my phone is Sony M4 Aqua E2353. As it is written that the phone is waterproof, I used to wash it almost once a week and it was ok (just under the tap water). Today I tried to take some underwater pictures. It was ok at the beggining, then I left it wet and just put it inside my bag but minutes after that I found it vibrated for several times and turned off. I couldn't turn it on, after several minutes it was just turned on only on 'Sony' and could not boot. I tried to put it under the sun and turned it on, can boot, but only for several minutes until it vibrated three times and turned itself off. I don't know what should I do and can't find any answers for it since the SONY M4 AQUA is WATERPROOF. I am trying to dry it using hairdryer and put silica gel on it. Pleasee helpp....
Thankyou
I'm sorry to hear that but a hair dryer its a terrible idea.
Chlorinated water, sea/salt water will corrode the seals, with that said, contact your Local support and request a vacuum test, this will show who is at fault, if its a manufacturing issue or perhaps you didn't firmly closed the covers or there's damage to the phone like a cracked screen, etc.
Thanks. Well, maybe that's about the chlorinated water. No cracked screen, since it is unibody phone, I couldn't close the cover improperly..Why does hairdryer is bad idea? Sadly, I am on vacation abroad, do you have any other idea what to do? Can put it again under the sun?
You'll be surprised that you can manage to not firmly close the flaps. Hair dryer will evaporate the water > steam > will spread inside the phone > pluse the heat will damage the phone. Same as expossing the phone to the sun/heat. the best thing to do is a bowl with rice > open all the covers > remove the SD and SIM cards > leave it for 24hrs to 48hrs
Do NOT attempt to turn it on nor charge it.
Oops, my bad..
I'm putting it inside a plastic bag with rice and silica gel inside, and how to 'open all the covers'? because it is a unibody phone..
Just open the SIM and SD cards covers and remove the cards > leave the ports open/flaps open

Ok, thanks a lot. Hope it will get fixed soon.. will inform you if it can be turned on
Hi uliwooly, thanks for your advice. My phone got better this morning, I used it for almost a day. But then I found something weird on its screen, like blur thing on its sides, so I put it inside the plastic bag with rice and silica gel once more. Hope it will totally normal later
