hi guys

hopefully someone could answer this. My contacts, which come from google account contacts, have birthdays attached to them and this obviously syncs back to the calendar app. By dont I receive any notifications that someones birthday is coming up or on during the day.

is there a setting im missing to turn on?

Nokia phones used to do this like 50 years ago.

Please assist.

Hi @Martin20,

It sounds like you do not have the Birthdays setting activated. Open the Calendar app > Press the three dots in the top right corner > Settings > Birthdays.

that setting is activated. and the birthday does show up on the calendar, but arent you supposed to receive a notificatoin

on the day of the birthday, on your screen or notification bar?

because i dont get any notification.

do you need to have the calendar sync turned on constantly?

@Martin20 Unfortunately, this is a setting google does not have. You could check some 3rd party apps on google play.

alexdron, didrik, well thats quite dissapointing, and as mentioned nokia phones had birthday notifications like 50 years ag

i though sony would make notifications in their calendar app work.

come on people its 2016.

Yeah normally such things should work...

Please test your settings, which of the permissions does your calendar app has, because this could be reason. If all permissions are given, then this is a bug.

So your saying that if the birthday is in the calendar then you should get a notification on the lock screen or the top bar when the birthday date comes up? Does it show up for you?
All the permissions are correct.

From what i found on the internet and what the previous post said, this type of feature is not implemented.

I can set like a normal event and get notification, but im talking about getting a notification automatically for any birthday that is added to my calendar from my contact list. (like old nokia phones did/do)
