I bought a new WH-1000XM3 headphones from John Lewis, on demo one the software version was 2.0.0. However, my unit came with v.4.1.1 out of box. I realised the difference in background noise when I was testing noise cancelling between demo and my own unit at the store. But I decided to try them in outside and unfortunately even I could hear sound that was came from cars on the road. I tried hard reset, re-connect, with or without app but no change. I even worked around settings in Sony headphone app but no solution. Therefore, I went back to John Lewis and thanks to them they refund money back. I do not know what does Sony plan with this strategy but after having this experience I am in doubt that if I will buy 1000XM4. Sorry Sony but today you lost one loyal customer.
