My wife recently went to halfords to get the CDX-DAB700U car stereo fitted. When she drove away she found that the DAB signal was very poor and non existent in some places. Thinking it may be just were we lived (Norfolk) we left it. Having driven up North to Sheffield over the weekend we found that the signal never improved.
So back to Halfords. They found that with the unit connected but not installed into the dashboard the DAB signal was perfect but as soon as they put the unit into the dashboard and the cage that it sits in touched the internals of the dashboard the dab signal went missing.
They didn't know what was causing the issue so replaced it with a Kenwood unit. This is an inferior stereo to the Sony (and also is having problms trying to get it out of demo mode) so we want to go back and get the sony one again.
Does anybody have any suggestions how we can solve the loss of DAB signal. The car in question is a Zafira (03). Any help much appreciated.
