ICF-SW7600GR radio faulty DC-in jack?

I have a Sony ICF-SW7600GR radio but the DC in jack often does not work properly when I connect to the power. There is a bad connection or similar. This is particularly noticeable when using the earphone jack at the side of the DC in jack. Must be a design fault?

How long have you had your ICF-SW7600GR radio.?

Have you tried using a different set of headphones.?

I have had the radio about 18 months. I bought a new one then because I had the same problem with the older radio that was the same type from Sony.

Yes I have used different headphones from time to time, but that does not seem to make a big difference.
