VAIO AR31S Battery Issue

I have a AR31S notebook but have a problem with the battery not charging (under Vista), indicator read 0% available (plugged in, charging). If I take out the power cord the laptop switches off immediately. Spoke with support, they reckon its the battery and want me to test a new one out but why should I have to do the running around when I spent £1700 + £180 for the extended warrantee. They did say it could be a faulty connector or just the battery has died which is not covered by the warranty. I am not happy with this at all, especially when I was given the price of a new battery. Has anyone else experienced the same problem or something similar?

Hi Rajesh_Soni,

welcome to Club VAIO..

We have had posts similar to yours before and to be honest we would normally suggest that you check if this is a battery or possible hardware problem by taking your Vaio to a local stockist and ask if you can try another battery in your Vaio..

Unfortunately you're battery is classed as a consumable item and only carries a 6 months guarantee, however, if the cause is hardware related you should be covered by the extended guarantee..

Thanks for your reply, I might take it to a Sony Centre store and see if they can check it with a battery first. The support guy was going to call me back tomorrow, he did say that if I was unhappy to email Customer Relations. In terms of the battery life, I also have another Vaio which has been running perfectly for 3 years with no battery issues and that gets used daily but runs on XP, I dont know but I think the AR31S(well the one I have) has some hardware issues.
