I have a new Vaio FZ31S with Vista Hoime Premium. The speakers sound so tinny that listening to music is just not enjoyable. Is there anyway to improve the sound quality/volume/bass output etc etc. I have tried the obvious things but cannot find a graphic equalizer which allows me to modify the onboard sounds. The laptop does have preinstalled SONIC STAGE STUDIO MASTERING AUDIO FILTER (also called AUDIO FILTER), but not sure this is going to improve anything. I have choosing a preset from one of the drop down lists but this does seem to do anything. Any suggestions how I can solve this or find a workaround ? Or am I missing something basic here ?
Hi there
I haven't listened to the audio from your model - but with other vaio notebooks have found that the audio can sound a little 'tinny' even on an AR series although the sound is better than on a CR1
Have you tried jiggling the equaliser in windows media player?
Try Jumpy's suggestions first, unfortunately laptops are not the first choice for audio - if all else fails try installing: -
VLC PLAYER
It's free and sometimes gives better volume - try the equaliser settings.
External speakers are the last resort.

Thanks for your email. I cant find the graphioc equalizer in Windows Media Player ! Must be stupid but can you tell me where it is located please. Thanks.
Bumpo
In windows media player 11 go to 'Now Playing.'
Click it and you will see 'Enhancements'
Hover over enhancements and you will be able to select the graphics equalizer.

I decided to get some nice 2.1 spreakers, Logitec Z-2300 and they are very nice
Excellent choice Kee-Lo.
I have had a set of Z2300s for a few years now and they are one of the best buys I have ever made.
How many items of electronics technology do you know that remain top-of-the-range for three years.
Thanks for this suggestion.....have found the GE nd now seems to be working fine and can tweek the sounds enough to make a big difference.
BTW.....have you ever heard of this probem...again when playing back in Windows Media Player....towards the end of every track that I have ripped to my hard drive there is distortion about 5 - 15 secs before the end, it's not really a problem but something is obviously not working correctly. I noticed on another user forum soemnpone with a DELL had this problem and there was a download patch available to stop this happening...is there one for a VAIO ? or has anyone else had this problem ? Thanks. This is a very useful forum, thanks to everyone for posting their replys and queries.
