I recently ran in to trouble with my notebook in the following way,
Was on a trian with my 3G dongle in a USB slot and happily playing on some game. As i approached my stop I shut the game down, removed the 3G dongle and then shut down my notebook in the normal way. I then received a blue screen of death and a physical memory dump....but unnoticed to me my PSU had become disconnected and the notebook power ran out during the memory dump.
The next day i started the note book, the vaio screen came up but then no operating system could be found. In the Bios no HDD is detected, but I cannot select anything like auto detect or SATA settings etc...my HDD may be kapput but I have a feeling that my bios is corrupt. I need to flash it and get the notebook back to default settings, I have recent bios on a flashstick but have never flashed a bios outside windows.
