Sony Vaio VGN-AR51J + Windows XP ?

Hi guys,
I`m thinking change my laptop(Sony Vaio VGN-AR51J) OS from vista to xp. Do anybody tried do this before? If yes,please give me some tips,advice...etc.

Why are you thinking of changing O.S. i am running vista home premium on a AR51J aswell are you having as many problems as i am?

I`m have few problems with vista(h.e.),xp works much faster than vista and uses only 100mb/ram instead vistas 500+mb/ram.

Some people had succsses degrade from vista to xp with other vaio models,so if somebody have some info about drivers for vgn-ar51j let me know.

Hi iRebel and welcome.

Sony do not support XP on your model and so there are no Drivers or Utilities. Sony will not help you if you have a problem and probably will not carry out any repair under warranty until you have reinstalled the original supported Vista system.

So make at least two sets of Vista Recovery Discs if you intend to install XP.

Installing XP is a complicated process if you want all the features of your Vaio to work. The only available XP drivers and Utilities were for the AR21 which was sold with XP installed. Theswe are OK for a start but things have moved on now and you will have to find some updated drivers from hardware manufacturers or from the web.
