SONY DVD RW DW-D56A is not working properly

Hi all,i have a VAIO VGN-FS 215S,since 2 months my dvd drive is not working,when i put a dvd in to it (not by all of them) the drive cannot recognise that there is a dvd in it,the CD-ROM is OK,do you have any idea what is wrong with it

I HAVE THE EXACT same problem... it has happened on three Vaios that I know of and I still haven't found a solution. Can someone please post something here if they know this?

I don't think it is a hardware problem.

I don't think it is a hardware problem. 

If you use the forum search facility you will find numerous posts on this particular optical drive. As far as I am aware the only solution is to return your notebook to Sony for a repair.:smileysad:
