Replacement Recovery & Documentation Disc

I have a PCG-GRT916V laptop. It is about 5 years old and still in excellent condition. However, it was getting a little tired and really needed to be re-set with factory settings. I tried to use my Recovery & Docunetation disc for the first time and my CD drive will not read it. It works fine with all other disks but not the one that could be crutial. While I have managed to resolve my immediate problem I am concerned that should I need to use the disc I am not able.

Does anyone know how/where I can get a replacement or a download?

Its not free but contact Sony Support to order recovery discs for your model.

Not happy that I should pay for something that should have come as an integral part of my purchase but htanks for the info.

Hi Cas0_0,

Before contacting Vaio support, if you have access to another PC, you could try making a copy of the Sony supplied recovery disc(s) and then see if the copy runs correctly..

Great idea. I did try the cd in another laptop and it reads fine so will try to copy and read in my Vaio.
