Problems with hard drive space used

Hello everybody,
About 2 month ago I bought VAIO laptop (AR71ZU).And right from the beginning I have problems with correct displaying the hard drive space used - I have used about 100 gigabytes, but it is showing that I have used 230 already.Even when I download something or install it uses(or at least shows)more than twice as much space.Sometimes it is allright, it sees the correct size of the file,but this is rare.
Does anybody know what I can do in this situation?

The missing HDD space could be due to the space used by Vista's System Restore..

You can check what space is being used and allocated to shadow storage by follow this guide..

Click Start, then click All programs followed by Accessories.

In Accessories Right Click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

In the Command Prompt window type: vssadmin list shadowstorage and then click Enter

Hopefully you should see..
