MONITOR CALIBRATION AR61S

I cannot calibrate my monitor. I've a VGN AR61S.
I found out that my screen is a lot more contrasted that it should be, but I cannot find the color manager.
I will buy an external calibrator but first I would like to find out how to change the monitor colors from "inside".
Can someone please help me?

Hi andrecaru and welcome to Club Vaio.

There are two basic ways to adjust the screen.

The usual way to adjust Contrast/Digital Vibrance/Brightness/Gamma and sometimes colour is in the video driver using the nVidia Control Panel. The options available may depend on the particular driver installed.

The second way is to create a new Colour Profile using software. All PCs with Adobe PS used to have a software program called 'Adobe Gamma' installed in the Control panel. With this you could adjust brightness,contrast, white temperature, gamma and colour with RGB sliders and save the on-screen changes to a new Colour Profile which can be saved in C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color. If you look in there you will see dozens of color (damned American English) profiles generated by your photographic and video programs, your colour printers etc. In there you will find your current screen colour profile. Your new one will be saved here and can then be chosen to be your default screen colour profile in Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Colour Management.

If you buy screen calibration software it will usually create a new screen colour profile as in the second way above.
