Hi,
This is the first time that I tried to go into the bios of my sony vaio laptop and I found that it asks for a password,..
My model is VGN FE31H,
Is there any default password set by sony ?
Regards,
Ahmed
Hi there
It sounds like a glitch has occurred unless you have set a bios password, or a previous owner / user has set the bios password.
I think you should contact Vaio Link but they will of course require proof of purchase / serial number etc from you.
Hi, that sounds strange, the laptop was bought by me new, and I never went to BIOS,
but once there was a keyboard issue,
When I sent my laptop to SONY they changed keyboard and motherboard, does it mean they've put a used motherboard inside ?

I have put up a case let see what they say....
Today I received this response,

*** NOTES 11-Dec-2007 Action Type: Info
Dear Mr Ahmed,
Thank you for contacting us.
First of all, can you give us the sixteen digits which appears to allow us transmitting it to the engineered.
To do this, please turn on the unit and press the "F2" key several times once you can see the Vaio logo prompted on screen.
Enter a random password three times until you are given the key to provide us.
Please do not switch off the unit until we give you back the bios bypass.
Regards,
Frederic

This means I will have to keep my machine turned ON in that state and not use it unless I get the serial,
Just curious if I restart would my machine be locked or something ?? or what will be the consequences, if I type 3 random passwords and then cant wait but restart it to use the laptop???
any ideas..
Hi Ahmed,
Do you currently have the sixteen digits displayed on screen.?
If not please wait as I have asked Sony for further information.
