Hi all.
New here so be gentle with me. I have recently bought a Sony Vaio VGN-NR38E and I got rid of all the bloated trialware that came with it, as I do not need it. now what I would like to know is how do I make a fresh install of Vista (My own copy) rather than the HDDR that is on my PC andclaim back the 7GB that, that has taken and split the partitions into 4 other drives (currently have a 160gb drive allocated to C:\ drive.
When I tried to boot up in Windows 2000 to delete and format the drives, I got a stop error stating that it could not find my SATA HD as there were no drivers, hence I could not re-format the drives. So how do I wipe the drive including the recovery partition and install a fresh copy of vista on a blank canvas so to speak.
Please help me.
Anybody available to help !!!!
Hi alderney1965dk and welcome to Club Vaio.
XP and previous versions of Windows do not support SATA drives. The SATA drivers have to be loaded from a USB floppy disc drive during the installation by pressing F6 at the 'Welcome to Setup' screen. Try Google for 'Installing XP on a SATA hard drive'.
Make sure you create at least two sets of Recovery Discs as Sony will not support or repair your Vaio if you change the OEM Operating System.
Vista should have the necesary drivers if you boot from the Vista disc. It also has a partition management application included.
You may also try Googling for 'vLite' which will give you another alternative.
Thanx Blencogo
However do you still know how to destroy the hidden partition. You may have already said but I am unsure.
