How to output 1080p to my Sony Vaio VPCEB2M1E

Model: VPCEB2M1E

I purchased my Sony Vaio VPCEB2M1E a few months ago. I want to connect it to my 47" Philips PFL9603 via HDMI to get 1080p resolution. In the dialog for HDMI settings there are three options

720 (The selected options)

768 (not possible to select)

1080 (not possible to select)

I have updated Graphics driver and updated Catalyst Software Suite to version 10.11 release date 11/17/2010 but it makes no difference.

How shall I be able to configure 1080p output option?

Thanks

Which version of the ATI graphics driver do you have installed?  I see there is a version  8.723.8.2 available with a release date of  19/11/2010 here: -

Is your HDMI cable of high enough quality to carry 1080p.   Some cheaper cables are not compatible.

I have version 8.672.1.2000 of  ATI Mobility Radeon HD5470 which is the latest according to ATI website. The HDMI cable is a clicktronics cable. Using more expensive cables makes no difference.
