Heated up VAIO

I bought a VGN-FZ21S VAIO laptop in January this year. Since then, the machine gets heated up too much most of the time. I mostly use the machine for all day. But, I think that is not a problem as I have friends who even do not shut down their laptops for the whole week. Their machines are not this way. So, will there please be someone who can suggest sth to me? Thank you in advance.

I'm wondering what, in 20 mins, caused the jump from 59 °C to 75 °C.?

Hello Thalamus,

As far as I remember, I was downloading an ebook and had a couple of brower windows and a couple of ebooks open. I again looked at the results at about 12:00 noon and the temperature was 81 degree celsius and, I ran the disk defragmenter around that time too. When I checked again at the disk defragmenter, the last run was also around 12 O' clock. I am not sure I run that defragmenter since I took the first two measurements which is posted here for you.

Here is my FZ11Z temperature in idle, 15 minutes after playing 2 hours of Battlefield 2:

IMHO the disk defragmenter consumes a lot of CPU cycles, so I think the 2nd readings are normal because you're pushing your computer.

Btw, do you usually work on a dusty place?

Do you mean these temperatures are normal? The temperature rose because of disk defragmentation and the lower one is also normal. Do you mean that way?
And are temperature and dust related? If so, what can I do about it even though I do not necessarily use the computer on a dusty place?

Yes, in any case I'll try to do a disk defrag today or tomorrow and will post the result here for comparison.

Yes, excess dust could rise the temperature because it will block the air flow of the heat sink.
Honestly, there's no way to remove the dust by yourself without voiding the warranty because you have to open your VAIO. Contact VAIO-Link they might be able to help.

I forgot to ask you something very important. The ambient temperature also affects the temperature of your notebook. If you're in a warm place, your notebook will just work warmer.

My current room temperature is around 20ºC and I did another test now:

Anyway, right now I think you don't have to do that because your FZ temperature seems to be just a little bit higher than mine unless you're working in a really cold place and I just have my FZ cleaned a few days ago.
