HDMI lost signal

Many have complained in this forum, and others, of the problem where the HDMI signal is lost, both when the pc has been into sleep mode and after changes to the AV inputs on the connected tv/monitor. Reference has been made to the 'HDMI problem download'. What is this download file called, and just where do I find it?

(XL301connected to Panasonic TH42PZ85 via HDMI)

I'm not sure what download you are referring too.

Have you installed the Win DVD updates for your Vaio via the Sony support download page.?

If not use the following link then select your model in the drop down list to download the updates: Sony Support Downloads

There is a problem of the screen going blank after changing the AV input on the television to something else and then switching back to the pc. The same thing happens if the pc goes in to sleep mode. When it wakes up the screen is blank. In both cases I am told that a signal from the tv to the pc via the HDMI is lost and the pc video card then thinks that there is no HDMI connection and so stops sending the HDMI signal. Is there a download to fix this?

Meanwhile I'll check the WinDVD updates...

These made no difference to my problem. It's not DVD or even VMC related.

Just found an old thread that refers to HDMI Software 071025c

Does anyone know where I can find this?

Hi thornsdale,

Are you looking for this?
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/info/info.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&url=Downloads/NV/D/VID/NV...

But I don't know if this is for your Vaio...

Best regards

Well I thought it was, but it seems that fix is for an audio problem with HDMI. I am looking for a fix that keeps the HDMI going after swapping AV inputs on my TV and swapping back to HDMI for the PC.

Hi thornsdale,

have you always had this problem or is something new, if it's new did you make any changes or install anything prior to this.?

When you change channel on the TV or allow your Vaio to enter sleep mode is Media Center still open on your Vaio.?

If so try connecting your Vaio to your TV just after booting up, without launching any other applications, do you still have the same problems.?

I have always had this problem.
I don't know if VMC is still running as I can't see anything (blank screen).
This problem has been mentioned on this on other forums and the intelligent answer seems to say that HDMI relies on a control signal from the receiving device (ie the TV). If that control signal is dropped (ie when I switch my TV to a different AV input), the Vista/video driver says 'Oh dear, the control signal has dropped so I won't send anything else on that HDMI port' And it never gets out of that state without rebooting the pc.

Thanks for the info...

could you please answer the following question.?

After booting up and without launching any other applications let your vaio enter sleep mode, do you still have the same problems.?
