Global Nvidia G8600M and other graphics card overheating problems
I have a AR51SU sony laptop and in the press I have read that many mobile GPU's are failing due to overheating and one of the graphic cards affected is mine. Does anyone have any further information about this, and if this is the case what will sony do about it. Thanks

Yes, I know
Sony is checking whether it affects their cards.
Hopefully Sonys cooling system differs from the Dell ones and so the mistake may not take effect.
But we're publishing official information asap.

How will Vaio owners be notified?

The card in my AR-41S died yesterday, luckily 2 days before my 1 year warranty expired! It was picked up today for repair, but I'd like to make sure that it's not going to be replaced with another card with a short life. Can you confirm that the faulty cards aren't being replaced with faulty cards?
Thanks,
G.

You will have to be patient.
All we know is that Sony Japan are investigating the matter and it may take them some time before they have all the answers.

I think it's time we had an update on this, and replacement cards for all. I am seriously worried that my second card will die in the near future and I want to see the problem resolved before it does.
Can someone point me at the official announcement from Sony regarding this issue? It is now over two months since NVIDIA admitted the fault. See this article.
UPDATE PLEASE!

If Sony give us any more info we will pass this on but please be aware that this is a Vaio user forum - none of us work for Sony we are all users like you - so don't expect an official response here.
If you want to ask Sony a specific question about the repair of your Vaio you will have to contact Sony direct.
