Here's a good one;
Is it possible/safe to use DDR2700 ram in a PCV-RX405? It comes with 2100 DDR, but I have noticed some suppliers sell the Athlon 2400+ with 2700DDR ram, suggesting it can use it. Of course, as I cannot find any info on the mobo of the pc, I cannot tell whether it can handle it.
Anyone answer this one?
Cheers
I was told by the vendor of my DDR 2700 memory (PC world - who also sell Sony computers) that 2700 ram would be ok, and that the machine would "default" to run at the speed of the slowest memory fitted.
Where did you find the info on what memory the RX405 has installed? I could find nothing in the manuals or on the Sony Style websites.
However, since my RX405 has died (see separate message), I am perhaps not the best person to ask.....lol
COuld be an expensive test to see if it would work, but maybe worth it to get the most out of an Athlon 2400+
I found out what memory the 405 had in a few different ways actually. First thing I did was look on www.crucial.com/uk and used their memory configurator, they are almost always bang on. Also, I had opened up the case and had a look inside the moment I go the machine home, and it says waht it is on the DIMM itself. A few other bits of software tell you the same thing
