Are you removing the ability of this TV to play certain codecs and if so why are you reoving this functionality?

No, not as far as I'm aware. Where did you read this?

It's not something i've read, it's plating fewer codecs. Got into the habit of converting files to mp4 because i knew it would play them - then after an update it would play mp4 video but not the sound.
