dead phone

My xperia S is dead. I plug it in, light goes solid red.... but nothing else. Won't recognise as plugged in for SUS, won't reset, won't nothing except show solid red light when plugged in.

I described the problem to sony people, and they said I had to send it in to have it repaired under the warranty. However it was full of pictures and video from the last year, my son's first steps, daughter's nativity play etc... I know I ought to have backed up the images, at least now I know this. I wasn't aware that due to data protection, they wipe the memory before they even try to attempt to fix it. The rep can't tell me how data protection laws require this action, but insists that it does.

I feel somewhat duped, "here have 25gb memory and a 12mp phone.... (but if you want to use them, make sure you back them up constantly, and only realise this after you lose hundreds of irreplaceable images, cos we won't tell you, thereby admitting that sometimes our phones break for no reason, not good for sales dontcha know.)"

Upshot is the last two months I've been paying £30 for a contract with no phone.... and I'm missing those precious moments that I used to catch with the handy phone camera..... oh the irony.

Sad face.

connect your Xperia to the wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds > let it charge for 1hr or 2hrs > THEN try to repair it with SUS
