4G Availablity on Experia M2 Dual D2302

I'm somewhat confused as to whether 4G is available on this variant of the M2. Sony says it is, as to many retailers own websites, yet some user forums say it isn't.  I have a 3 SIM and am in a 4G area, but it is not showing 4G as being available, only 2 or 3G. It certainly seems to be an option, if you do *#*#4636#*#* it appears as an option, but selecting that option makes no difference!

Anyone out there actually got 4G (in the UK) on this model variant, and, if so, did you have to make any chanegs to settings? (Running Kit Kat, I should mention).

TIA

M

Hi,

The D2302 version does not support 4G. It supports the following networks:
UMTS HSPA+ 900 (Band VIII), 850 (Band V), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

Thanks for that response; perhaps, then , Sony can explain why, on Page 22 of the D2302 User Guide, the following appears:

Icons in the status bar Status icons
Signal strength

No signal

Roaming

LTE is available

GPRS is available

EDGE is available

3G is available

The bold red is mine; unfortunately the icons won't copy from the PDF. That certainly suggests it is capable of using LTE!  There are other references to LTE in that Guide, so it's no wonder I'm confused (not that that is in any way unusual or difficult).

No, this (which comes from the Sony UK Support Site):

http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/d2302/userguide_EN_D2302_3_Android4.4.pdf

There are various references to LTE in this; I haven't read all 124 pages, but the on screen LTE icons are described on Pages 22 and 23,and on Page 32 it actually advises selecting the fastest network for data, e.g.LTE or 3G!

Interestingly the document you have attached gives the same spec that Sony have used in their response; I wonder whether the user guide has been adapted from a different model that does have 4G, and it hasn't been edited correctly to  match the spec of this particular variant. All that said,I have read reviews on other fora which mention using the D2302 on 4G.

Misleading documentation at best.....

Don't quote on me this but I think that's just the general icon list, accross all Xperias,  but as you can see on the white papper it doesn't say anything regarding LTE, and if you check this

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-m2-dual/specifications/#tabs

Networks

  • (D2302) UMTS HSPA+ 900 (Band VIII), 850 (Band V), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
  • (D2302) GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

As you can see it's not misleading

Thanks for that; clearly it doesn't get 4G!  The average punter though, like me, would only see the user guide, not the papers you have attached.  Given that we have a single sim Experia M2, which has got 4G, it wasn't unreasonable to assume that the Dual also had this facility, based on the user guide and the fact that, if you do a google search there are any number of retailers claiming it does have 4G.  Quite how users can say their 4G works fine on this phone defeats me, unless, of course, some models sold elsewhere than the UK do actually have it.

Confusion reigns, but thanks for alerting me to the existence of these White Papers, which seem to give the definitive spec of Sony phones.

Cheers

M
