Hi I have also just bought a Sony A8g and had similar frustrating problems, Wi-fi kept dropping out for no reason. I mainly wanted to stream my music from my iPhone to the TV. I eventually fixed it by using a LAN cable direct to my router and can stream both music and photos now via the “iMediaShare” app which I installed on both my devices !!!!!
if still problems see this useful link:

Thanks. A wired connection between the TV and the router will be problematic. Although they are line if site there is no easy cable run between them. Have tried power line devices in the last but they have never worked properly.
might try fuddling with IP6 settings in router etc in case in makes any difference to WiFi.

Hi.
Do you know how to 'turn wi-fi off' on a Sony KD-65XF9005 ?
I keep getting the annoying 'not connected to wi-fi' message too - and I don't really use anything connected to wi-fi on the tv itself, so am happy to turn it off until it's resolved by Sony (maybe)
Thanks.

I’ve done the soft reset and it’s worked. I don’t have Sky so maybe the new hub may fix it. Other than that a full factory reset might help ... but it’s a nuisance having to sign into everything again. Mine is the AG9 series.

“Settings”, then “Network” “Network set up”
“Expert”. “Wi-fi “ slide this setting to OFF
Hope this helps. Regards - Rosilew

That’s great, thanks.
I didn’t go into the ‘expert’ settings cos I thought I’d mess something up. Have switched off the wi-fi, so hopefully the stupid message will stop appearing (until they send out an update to fix it at least)
thanks again !

Also having this exact problem with a KD-55XF9005.
Have tried upgrading the firmware today but message still keeps flashing up, despite tv apparently being connected. Extremely irritating issue.
Would appreciate input from Sony technical support on this issue.
I also have a Sky Q router.

Hey @buddhahat,
You can try to change the date and time format on your TV:
Press the HOME button, then select [Settings] — [Device Preferences] — [Date & time] - Then choose [Use Network Time].
Then do the soft reset for the TV by pressing the power button for 7 seconds and test it once more.
Hopefully this helps.

I have recently returned from Switzerland, I had this issue there as well as here in the UK. It’s nothing to do with Sky, it’s 100% Sony.
