Getting started with a cybershot camera

Hi. I've never used a digitl camera before, and yesterday bought one, the DSC-W810. The manual, as can be seen in the attached image, says I should select a language, and then a location and date, The screen showed English, but how do I select it? Pressing the control button just brings up other languages, pressing the word 'okay' on the screen does nothing. I don't know how to get past the 'select language' screen, so obviously can't take any photos, so would really appreciate some help. The solution maybe obvious, but I'm completely new to these cameras, so please be patient with me.

pressing the center button (control button) doesn't select the language?

That sounds rather weird to me.

It could be defective.

Thanks for replying, but when I visited theretailer it turned out I hadn't understood the instructions, Camera's working fine now I know how to operate it.
