Hi newalms and welcome.
Please confirm you are using a Windows PC and let us know which version of Windows you have installed.
If you have a Windows 7 computer, transfer of videos is more reliably done using an iLink (firewire) cable but look at the tutorial on transferring video on the support pages for your model here: -

Hi there, I hope you can help. I want to import my videos from the Sony DCR-HC24E camcorder to a Windws 10 computer using the ILink Firewire cable. I have a Firewire port on my PC. I've tried using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 which says 'Capture Device Offline', I also tried the PlayMemories software to no avail, it starts the software (both Adobe and PlayMemories) but won't go online.
I've been directed to this page which suggests for my make and model of camera I cannot use 'PlayMemories Home' software...

It then directs me to this page which seems to suggest I have to use video capture cable

Surely I do not need to use this method, I just succesfully transferred all my old video footage from an older Sony DCR-TRV120e camcorder using premiere pro cc 2018 with no problems at all using an iLink Firewire cable.
Can anyone help please ?
Thanks inn Advance
