Hi, I was hoping someone could help with regards to connecting the AG9 TV to a subwoofer. With earlier models this was very simple, you just connected to the headphone out and in the sound settings selected the headphone output to subwoofer. I believe with the AG9 and some other models this function has been removed. As far as I can tell you now need to use the digital out (spdif). This is easy enough, just use a digital to analog converter then into the sub, but will the volume be adjusted with the TV? If anyone has had experience with this I would be grateful for your insight.
Hi,
To my knowledge the volume should be adjustable.
Cheers
Peter
Hi many thanks, but I have just read this on Sony support;
The Optical Digital Audio Out jacks on Sony TVs are Fixed.
NOTE: When using this type of connection the volume must be controlled by the home theater system or audio receiver; the TV remote control cannot control the sound. To control the sound output with the TV remote control, a composite audio connection should be used instead (if your TV has one).
I want to use the acoustic surface but just enhance the LF with a subwoofer like I did with the A1. I am concerned about purchasing one if this can not be achieved.
I don't think connecting a Subwoofer is implemented in the same way as it was on the A1, so these limitations are something you need to keep in mind. On the other hand, you can use the TV as a centre speaker if you want to take advantage of the TV speakers while expanding your audio setup with an external audio system: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/gaep2/v1/en/04-04_05.html
