My husband has a Sony A7R Camera. Which we recently used on our honeymoon. He has been trying to transfer them on to his laptop only to find they are in an. ARW file which he can not open to view or edit
He found a convertor programme but the pictures open and appear to have a blue/green filter. He has now found he has to share them on his phone then transfer to his laptop. Surely there is an easier solution to this?
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks

Hi!
Congrats with your honeymoon and with the excellent camera
Indeed, ARW files can only be opened with a raw-conversion programma. This is not only the highest quality possible, it not more than a digital file, not a picture. If you are not into photography, don't use RAW.
Sony gives you 2 options: either you download their raw developing programma (called IDC) or you download -for free- the "capture one express for sony", which you can find on the sony website (look for you model, then go to support or just typ it in google).
As mentioned above, these are just digital files which you'll have to convert to real pictures yourself. It is of course too late, but try jpeg next time, it will give you better results than converting the raw files now with one of these programmes if you have no experience using them. It'll take you some time to learn...
Good luck!
