a77: socket for remote is loose

When connecting the remote release cable to the camera I noticed that the socket is loose.

This camera came brand new from A****** 4 weeks ago.

I was about to send it back but A******* customer support adviced me to keep and send me a new one (as replacement). Now I have 2 a77s.

This second camera also "features" a loose remote socket connector.

This loose connector is discussed in several forums that I have found (e.g. dyxum).

Q: is this something that other a77 owners out there have also?

Do I have to worry about this?

Can this be fixed? (I have doubts about this because its a sealed body and if they open it somehow, replace the socket and reconnect a new one, how can I be sure that the body is still sealed when being put together).

This seems to be normal. I have checked with my A65 and an A57 from the store. The connection of the remote itself is firm, just the socket has a little play.

Correct. On both a77s the connector is firm and the sockets are a bit loose.

May be this is by design
