How can I watch a DVD on my Vaio PC (PCV-6603)

Please help me I would like to watch a DVD / TV on my PC and also record TV if possible. I have the following DVD Drive on my PC Matshita UJ-810. I really need some help. I have my original software that came with the PC but I dont know if tit works. And cannot afffors a total reinstall of all software as I have too much Data on my pc to compromise.

Please help me.

All you need is VLC for the DVD - www.videolan.com

For watching TV, if you don't have Gigapocket, you can buy a USB TV Card. I have a few recomended in my elektronix section.
