C/D data transfer

Hi Can anyone advise me how I can transfer data (word and Excel files) from and to my domestic p.c. (windows XP) from my laptop p.c. (also Windows
X.P) using CD/RW discs. The problem seems to be the fact that the files outputted from my VAIO laptop are UDF V1.5 format. I am unable to change this on RW c/ds.

The domestic p.c. reads data from laptop but I cannot change and update on the home p.c. as files are read only.

It sounds as though you want to be able to use the CD/RW as a portable HDD, simply updating the files. This is not possible using Windows - you will need packet writing software.

Alternatively, once you have transferred the files to the new machine, erase the CD and re-write the updated files.

Or, try a USB storage device. You can pick up 64MB storage for less than £30 these days and it will work just like your HDD, except portable of course

Get a USB storage key like Dave said.
A good recomendation would be this one (I know it's USB2, but it's backwards compatible, and will be future proof.

Much faster than fiddling with CD-RW

As tellingd says - you will need packet writing software.

Try InCD from http://www.ahead.de - it's available as part of the Nero suite. You could also try DirectCD from http://www.roxio.com
