Sony Staff Poor

Last Weekend I attended "The Photography Show" in Birmingham. In December I purchased 2 Sony A7iii bodies and 4 Lenses from the highly recommended wex in Manchester.

Whilst at the show I attended the Sony stand, armed with a few questions regarding the Cameras. These were (In my view) not overly difficult questions, but ones that I just couldnt get me head around and just needed some help ( Transition from Canon 5Div).

MOSTLY these questions ended up unanswered, The staff on the stand that I spoke to seemed distracted, uninterested, and certainly unable to answer my questions mostly. I hesitate to use such strong words as incompetent, so I wont, but came close. The questions that were answered appeared to be "Err, my best guess would be.......". This is NOT satisfactory and a very poor show from Sony. Fortunately for Sony, I already purchased the gear. If I was at the show to actually purchase this gear, I would not have done so based on my experience on the day. The second reason I was there was to purchase the Sony 90mm 2.8 macro lens, but came away uninterested after the poor service.

Hi @Bulldog1471  and welcome to the Community

You should have been directed to someone with more specialist knowledge.

Due to the large numbers of people visiting the stand some staff may not have

intricate knowledge in some areas and are mainly there to provide hands on help

with the large amount of kit available to try.

Are there any particular questions that you still need some help with?

Several really, firstly, when I had my previous camera, the Native iso for the sensor was 100 iso, although the camera could go to 50. What is the Narive iso of the A7iii sensor, please.

Secondly, the person who I spoke to (Pointless naming the person) told me to keep steady shot on when using a tripod (Seems strange to me, but maybe correct due to ibis and not IS on Canon), unless I was doing extremely long exposures.

There were others, but I've mostly worked them out since I couldnt get help at the show.

Hi again

Unfortunately it isn't sony's policy to reveal the native ISO of their sensors.

Regarding the steady shot while using a tripod, everyone has their own preferences.

In theory it could correct any minimal shutter button shake while on the tripod.

Hope this helps.

Okay, thank you for the responses. It appears to me, I need to do my own research and hope I get things right. Beginning to feel it was a mistake to move into the Sony Echo system. Never mind, we all live and learn.
