SELP28135G: Auto Exposure/Iris with 'A' on A7sii camera body

SELP28135G: Auto Exposure/Iris with 'A' on A7sii camera body

I've just bought the SELP28135G (28-135 f/4 cine) lens and am mounting to the Sony A7sii body. I primarily shoot video.

It's a great lens so far, but I'm confused about the 'A' setting on the iris ring. I was under the impression that switching to 'A' would set the camera body automatically to Auto exposure/Auto iris - in the same way that the AF/MF collar function operates.

But this doesn't happen for me. Am I getting it wrong? Can someone explain what the 'A' setting on the iris ring is, and walk me through how it works?

Hi Wmcconnell83,

It's mentioned in the manual under paragraph H that setting the iris ring to A  the camera is set to auto iris mode and the exposure is set by the camera.

All the best,
