Playmemories Home and WiFi transfers

How much detail does anyone have on how Playmemories Home works?  I've got the application installed, and if my computer is connected via WIRED ETHERNET, then the camera can't find the computer.  However, if I reconfigure it for WiFi and reload the settings into the camera, then the camera transfers files no problem.

Any ideas on how the camera and app talk to each other?  I'm seeing lots of mDNS queries but not much else.

"Btw I found that PlayMemories Home (Windows) sends the MAC address of every network interface in the system (even those not connected to media/without a valid IP), whereas the Auto Import Tool (OSX) seemed to only send the one interface that was connected - using my Mac Mini that has ethernet (unpulugged) and WiFi (connected to home router), Auto Import only sent the MAC of the WiFi. The latter seems like a recipe for trouble if the user changes the interface he connects to the camera with."
