xperia z5 dual sim 'no signal' issue

Suddenly my xperia device was not able to receive cellular signal on both sim cards. I did try network search.. but there were no operators listed. Even phone restart didnt help. I thought it could be the hw issue, since i had dropped the mobile that day. Finally i tried a "software repair" using xperia companion. Then the phone started receiving the signal on both sim cards normally. It worked for a complete day without issue. Again the issue started appearing, after i changed a setting of some apps - I disabled the 'background data' option for Google play, Jio Music app and few other apps. These apps were not drivers or system related. I couldnt make the phone to receive signal except had to do a "software repair".

What could be the issue? If anybody faced similar issues? Please suggest so that i can avoid this in future. Performing software repair is so time consuming and i cannot do it again.

Hi @Raj26, Welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this  

If the software repair resolved the issue it would seem to indicate that the issue may be caused by a third party application.

Do you experience the same thing in safe mode? Does the issue go away if you again perform a software repair using Xperia Companion?

If you are getting no solutions there, I recommend you contact your Local support team to arrange a repair, as it could be a loose SIM connection after the drop.

Thank you for the response.

I had tried the safe mode. But when the problem occurs, 'safe mode' does not resolve it. I tried to do n/w search from this mode but the option was disabled.

However, the software repair helped. Twice i could recover from the problem using software repair (with sim cards in place). 

1. First time i noticed the problem after sometime i have dropped the phone (recovered using software repair).

2. Second time, i have installed few third party applications and then tried to change its permission and tried to disable the 'background data collection' mode for those apps. In this process i entered the developer options as well. I remember i also stopped some of the third party apps. (even this time i could recover using the software repair)

Question: Just wondering how manipulating the third party apps settings would affect the cellular signal? Will this be a problem? Can you advice what i should not be doing with the app settings? 

Currently my device continue to work after the second software repair. This time i did not request for the 'developer options' and i have not installed any third party apps.

Because third party applications are not developed by Sony Mobile there could be any number of reasons or conflicts of processes that can be the issue, I couldn't say specifically what. 

I am glad to hear the software repair has resolved this for you for now, hopefully this remains the case.

Thank you. Hope this is not a hardware issue (loose sim connection).

I tried removing the sim out and re-inserted couple of times to prove this is not a loose connection issue. Signal is received without an issue.

Software repair doesnt work. its useless

Try enabling the data saver. I had the same issue. It is probably an app working on the background. The data saver will block it. Worked 4 me.

 my z5 connects only with 3g. It dont connect with 4g and 2g at all. Also it doesnt connects with gprs. In naugat the problm persist. Then i downgraded to marshmallo by sony campanion s/w but it didnt help me at all. Thinking of swicthing fone. Any idea? From pakistan
